Plant Biotechnology Lab Dr. Tahir Rehman Samiullah serves as a dedicated Assistant Professor within the esteemed Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology at the University of the Punjab in Lahore, Pakistan. He commenced his journey with the University of the Punjab in August 2006, embarking on a trajectory defined by his fervent engagement in various domains of scientific research. His diverse field of interests encompasses Plant Molecular Biology, Plant Biotechnology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Plant Biosafety, GMO Analysis, and the cultivation of the super food Spirulina. Currently, he holds the multifaceted roles of Research Officer cum Lecturer BPS- 18 at the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology, University of the Punjab, Lahore. Additionally, he is pursuing his Ph.D. studies as a Research Scholar within the Plant Biotechnology Lab at CEMB, underscoring his unflagging dedication to academic and scientific growth. Dr. Samiullah’s journey boasts several notable achievements. One such accomplishment is his milestone achievement in the arena of multiple gene transformation in Cotton, a feat that significantly advances the realm of genetic modification within crop plants. His current research trajectory is directed towards the pre and post-release monitoring of genetically modified (GMO) crops, with a particular focus on cotton. His doctoral pursuits have steered him towards a pivotal challenge – the production of Edible Vaccine against Avian Influenza Virus in chicks. This pressing issue carries immense significance within the context of poultry farming in Pakistan. Serving as a team scientist, Mr. Samiullah’s contributions extend across various research projects that have garnered funding from diverse agencies including PARB, ICARDA USA, HEC, and projects focused on Protein-based detection of CEMB cotton varieties CKC3, CKC5, CKC6, CKC7, and CKC8. Mr. Tahir Rehman Samiullah’s journey underscores his robust commitment to scientific exploration and innovation, as well as his integral role in advancing the frontiers of research within the realm of molecular biology and biotechnology. |
